Five Amazing Uses of Frankincense Oil

 

Frankincense oil is almost usually associated with one of the first gifts given to Jesus by the wise men. Other than that, it is eclipsed by the more common oils like coconut or lavender when it comes to daily use. Did you know though that frankincense oil has some amazing uses that you can easily incorporate in your daily life?

For Stress Relief and Aromatherapy

Frankincense oil has a strong scent, and it blends beautifully with other oils to create an excellent aromatherapy experience. It can promote happiness and lower your stress levels as you go about your day. It’s a very effective sedative, and you can use it every day to leave yourself feeling relaxed and to lower your stress levels. (1)

DIY Aromatherapy Spray

While you can use this oil by itself to make a great-smelling rooms spray, it also works well blended with other essential oils. Once you mix it up, you can spray it around your house and onto your furniture for a relaxing and inviting scent that lingers for days.

Ingredients

  • 15 Drops of Frankincense Oil
  • 15 Drops of Grapefruit Oil
  • 30 Drops of Douglas Fir Oil
  • 3 Cups of Water
  • Spray Bottle

Add your water to the spray bottle of your choice and then add your essential oils in on top of the water. Shake the spray bottle up before you use it, and you’re ready to go.

For Better Dental Health

Frankincense has several strong antiseptic qualities, and this makes it a great tool to help improve your oral health. This oil will work to fight the bacteria that cause bad breath, mouth sores, cavities, toothaches, and other mouth infections like abscesses. (2) If you don’t mind the stronger smell, you can look for kinds of toothpaste and mouthwashes that already contain this oil. You can also make your own all-natural toothpaste.

DIY Natural Toothpaste

You can make this toothpaste in under five minutes, and it’s an inexpensive and easy way to improve your oral health. The baking soda has the added benefit of neutralizing acid in your mouth, and you do want to keep this toothpaste in a jar to store it because it can liquefy at around 75°F (24°C). This won’t affect how well it works.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
  • 2 to Four Tablespoons of Baking Soda
  • 20 Drops of Frankincense Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of Xylitol Powder (Optional)
  • Glass Jar

Start the process by putting your coconut oil into a bowl and placing it in a hot water bath to soften it. This can take between 10 to 15 minutes. When it’s liquefied, add your baking soda, essential oil, and your xylitol powder if you want to use it. Stir well. Put it in your lidded glass jar for storage. You can use this toothpaste three times a day.

For Younger Looking Skin

Frankincense has many astringent properties, and these properties help with a variety of issues with your skin. These qualities help to reduce any wrinkles you may have and restore elasticity and firmness to your skin, giving you a more youthful glow. (3) It also works to contract the tiny blood vessels in your face to give you a flawless complexion. You can make a moisturizer quickly and easily using this oil.

DIY Moisturizer

This moisturizer recipe makes around one cup of facial cream, and it has a few ingredients that can improve your skin tone, promote collagen production, smooth the appearance of wrinkles, and improve your skin’s elasticity.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 Cups of Cocoa Butter
  • 0.25 Cups of Coconut Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of Jojoba Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of Sweet Almond Oil
  • 40 Drops of Frankincense Oil

Melt your cocoa butter in a double boiler and add your coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil when it’s melted. Mix these ingredients until they’re well incorporated. Put this mix in your refrigerator until it starts to harden and then you’ll whip it with a stand mixer or with a hand mixer. Whip the mixture until it’s fluffy, and then add in the Frankincense oil and continue whipping until everything is incorporated. Store your mixture in a lidded container.

 

For Helping Toddlers Sleep

Therapeutic-grade essential oils can be a great aid in helping babies and toddlers fall asleep faster, even if they’re the type to be fussy at night. Frankincense is one of few essential oils that we’d recommend using for babies because of how mild and gentle it is. Use it topically as children should NEVER take oils internally. To calm a baby or toddler who has difficulty falling asleep at night, you can either do a bedtime massage or add a bit of oil into her bath water.

 

Bedtime Massage

Dilute your oil properly. If you have a newborn, use 1 drop of oil per tablespoon of your carrier oil. If you have a young child, use a drop of oil per teaspoon of carrier oil. Once you’re ready, massage a few drops of oil in child’s feet before bedtime. Take a tiny bit more and apply to the heart area.

 

Pro-Tip: To be on the safe side and eliminate the possibility of an allergy, do a patch test with your child for first time use. Apply the diluted oil on a small patch of skin and observe for any reaction.

Frankincense oil has cancer-fighting properties, and it aids in boosting your immune system. This can help you stay healthier as you go through your cancer treatment, and it may even reduce the severity of your chemotherapy side effects.   • 4 Ounces of Milk
  • 1 or 2 Vegetable Capsules

One of the easiest ways to take Frankincense oil is to mix one drop of the oil into one tablespoon of honey each day and eat it. If you don’t like this method, you can add one or two drops of the oil to four ounces of milk, soy milk, or rice milk each day and drink it. Finally, you can also inject one drop of oil into a vegetable capsule and eat it each morning.
